Hey, Let's Go Port Tasting!

A friend invited me to a vintage Port tasting at the Sheraton Palace the other day and here is a little video capturing the experience. In the end, I don't think I'm going to be drinking much more of it, but it was an eye-opening experience nonetheless.

I'm sticking to Whiskey.

Wine tasting is one of my favorite hobbies but you brought my experience to a new level of understanding. Reminded me of some great times I've had with an old buddy of mine. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES! Very cool!

A wise drunk (not me, I'm a not-wise drunk) once told me that fortified wine is your maximum alcohol for your buck, though I'm thinking that he wasn't talking about this brand. I too have vast experience with fortified wines in my younger days, such as the classic, "Mad Dog 20/20", but I'm guessing this wasn't included in the tasting. Since I have become more sophisticated and less willing to tolerate the massive hang overs I've moved on to more sophisticated drinks like beer. (I'm not saying I would turn down an invitation to a good port tasting) ... as your other poster said, thanks for the memories

I took a class on sherries. Two hours of slides and tastings. We spilled over into ports a little (no pun intended). I enjoy both a great deal. We came out of the classes like you did! Was many years back, through adult ed. THere was less concern with "liability" in those days; I'll bet they don't do that anymore in Santa Barbara, near my home. Same for "fiesta": we used to dance and drink in the streets (now you'll get a ticket or carted off). Oh well, get it where you can find it. Looks like you got "fortified".
